Men: Third NCAA regional rankings released

Compiled by Staff

The NCAA released its third set of men's regional rankings on Tuesday and the regional No. 1's remained the same for the third week in a row as Norwich and St. Norbert remain atop the East and West Region rankings, respectively.

This week's West Region rankings likewise remain the same for the third week in a row, but yet again the East Region featured a flurry of changes in its bottom half.

Utica and Trinity were the week's big gainers as Utica jumped up two spots to No. 6 while Trinity did the same to land at No. 7. Williams, which fell out of last week's rankings after debuting at No. 6, is also on an upward swing and re-entered this week's rankings at No. 8.

Amherst and Babson both took a tumble and now stand at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively, after checking in at Nos. 6 and 7 a week ago. Plattsburgh State is the lone new team to be featured this week as the Cardinals snuck into the top ten for the first time this season and landed in a tie for tenth. SUNY Geneseo, the previous No. 10, was the lone team to fall out of this week's rankings.

Used to determine both NCAA tournament bids and seedings, this week's rankings are the third of four sets that will be released to the public.  The final rankings will be generated on March 5 and used to determine the NCAA tournament selections will be released on March 6.   The numbers used by the regional committees to generate these rankings are sometimes made available to the public.
