King's Men's Hockey Drops 3-2 OT Heartbreaker to WNEU on Goal with 0.7 Left

KING'S MEN'S HOCKEY DROPS OVERTIME HEARTBREAKER WESTERN NEW ENGLAND

PITTSTON -- Connor Graham scored the game-winning goal with less than a second remaining in overtime as the Western New England men's ice hockey team dealt host King's College a heartbreaking 3-2 loss Tuesday night at Revolution Ice in Pittston.

With the win, WNEU improved to 6-9-1 on the year while King's slipped to 0-15.

Western New England struck first 4:12 into the game when Matt O'Dea scored off an assist from Matt Smethurst .The Golden Bears built a 2-0 lead with 2:52 left in the second period when Tyler Hines scored off a David Kleyman assist.

But the Monarchs trimmed the lead to 2-1 with just 0:36 to go in the period when Orion Linnehan struck net off assists from Cameron Anklewich and Nicholas Palumbo as King's climbed to within 2-1 entering the third period.

King's scored the equalizer 3:05 into the third period when Anthony Frati scored off assists from Linnehan and Palumbo to tie the score at 2-2 as the teams would eventually head to extra time.

The game headed to overtime and appeared destined to finish in a tie. But the Golden Bears made one last rush as Connor Graham scored the game-winner with 0.7 left of a feed to the front of the net to walk away with the victory.

Western New England outshot King's 35-25 while King's owned a 39-37 advantage in face-offs won.

King's goalie Link Ferch made 35 saves while Golden Bear goalie Kyle Carducci had 26 stops.

King's returns to the ice Friday the 19th with a 4:00 PM game at SUNY-Canton. The Monarchs then return home Saturday night with a 7:00 PM matchup with Elmira College at Revolution Ice.
