MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Adam Ostrowski scored the game-winner 2:53 into overtime to cap a comeback from 2-0 down and defeat No. 1-ranked St. Norbert 3-2 Saturday night at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (1-3, 1-1 NCHA) handed the Green Knights (2-1, 1-1 NCHA) their first loss for the second-straight season and beat them for the third-straight meeting in the Kern Center.

Ostrowski's goal capped a comeback that saw MSOE trailing 2-0 after two periods. Sophomores Garrett Gintoli and Kevin Shand scored power play goals to pull the Red & White even before Ostrowski's quick-reflex winner midway through the extra period.

On the winning play, a St. Norbert defenseman broke up a centering pass but a weak clearance attempt sent the puck to Ostrowski, who turned and fired a shot over the goalie's shoulder and into the net.

It is the first head coaching win for Graham Johnson and a tremendous bounce-back from a 5-0 defeat last Saturday in DePere.

The Green Knights opened up a 2-0 lead with a goal in each of the first two periods.

Gintoli then got the Raiders on the board 23 seconds into a 5-on-3 power play to get them going. Sophomores Adem Arifi and Jeff Makowski assisted on the goal. Then, with 3:03 remaining in regulation, Shand netted the equalizer unassisted with a looping shot over the goalie.

Despite conceding an 11-9 shot advantage in the final period, the momentum shifted to MSOE's side as the team got stronger as the minutes on the clock dwindled. The Red & White closed out regulation by killing off a crucial power play over the final two minutes leading into overtime.

Sophomore Rock Boynton made 35 saves in goal for the win, outdueling T.J. Black, the All-NCHA First-Team selection last season. Black stopped 21 shots in the game.

St. Norbert finished with a 37-24 shot advantage and both teams were whistled for eight penalties. MSOE went 2-for-8 with the man advantage against 1-for-7 for SNC.

The Raiders return to the ice Friday night at Northland as part of a weekend road trip that includes a stop at St. Scholastica Saturday.
