SALEM, Mass. --  Sophomore Eric Bolden (Oswego, Ill.) netted a pair of power play goals, while senior Brendan McDonough (Wilmington, Mass.) collected four assists as UMass Dartmouth notched a 5-1 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference ice hockey victory over Salem State Thursday evening at Rockett Arena.

After a scoreless opening period, freshman Jimmy Pelton (Syracuse, N.Y.) staked the visiting Corsairs (7-7, 4-3 MASCAC) to a 1-0 lead when he converted a McDonough feed 5:32 into the middle frame, and Bolden's first man-advantage marker midway through the second stanza set up by another McDonough pass extended that margin to 2-0 through 40 minutes of action.  Bolden, who now has six game winning goals to his credit this winter, added his second power play tally 1:09 into the third period on McDonough's third helper of the evening, and senior Connor Court's (Swansea, Ill.) shorthanded goal on a feed from sophomore Nicholas Short (Los Angeles, Calif.) gave UMass Dartmouth a 4-0 cushion with just over nine minutes remaining.

The visitors' man-advantage magic continued just over two minutes later when junior Sean Leonard (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) netted the Corsairs' third power play marker of the contest on McDonough's fourth and final assist of the night with 7:02 to play, but the host Vikings (4-8-1, 3-5 MASCAC) spoiled the shutout with 50 seconds remaining in the game on freshman Trevor Mallett's (York, Maine) power play goal that accounted for the final margin.

Sophomore Parker Butler (Summit, N.J.) earned his third win of the season by stopping 23 of 24 shots between the pipes for UMass Dartmouth, while junior Sean Cleary (Barnstable, Mass.) made 22 stops in goal for Salem State.  The Corsairs outshot the Vikings by a 27-24 margin overall and held a 41-37 advantage in the face-off circle in earning their second straight triumph and fifth win in the last six outings overall dating back to November 29th.

UMass Dartmouth hosts Plymouth State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference clash on Saturday afternoon at Hetland Arena that faces off at 4:00 pm, while Salem State hosts Worcester State in a MASCAC outing on Saturday afternoon at Rockett Arena that faces off at 2:00 pm.
