CANTON, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior Conlan Keenan scored two goals to lead the No. 2 Knights to a 5-0 victory at Canton, Saturday, for their 15th-consecutive victory.

Senior goalie Devin McDonald totaled 20 saves to set an NCAA Division III record with his 11th shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Geneseo (19-1-1) took a two-goal lead in the first eight minutes of the game after Canton was whistled for a pair of early hooking penalties. Keenan tipped a slap shot from the point by senior defenseman Duggie Lagrone inside the right post with 14:54 on the clock for the first goal of the game.
  • Less than a minute and a half later, junior forward Andrew Romano crossed a pass to junior forward Tyson Empey on the right side of the Kangaroo crease. Empey took a shot that rebounded off the Canton goalie's pads to Keenan at the top of the slot for a scoring wrist shot at 12:32.
  • Empey tipped a shot from the point by senior defenseman Mitch Ferguson out of the air that deflected off the right boards behind the Canton net. Senior forward Joe Serpico collected the loose puck and scored on a tough-angle shot for a 3-0 lead with 4:06 left in the period.
  • Junior forward David Szmyd dug a loose puck off the left boards down low to Romano, who fed junior defenseman Will Campion though traffic at the top of the slot for a scoring wrist-shot with 53 seconds on the clock to close the first period.
  • Geneseo scored the lone goal of the second period. Sophomore forward Carson Kelley won a face-off in the left face-off circle of the Canton zone to sophomore forward Dan Bosio, who skated on goal to flip a backhanded a shot inside the right post with 2:02 on the clock.
