KING'S WOMEN FALL TO SECOND-PLACE WILLIAM SMITH IN SERIES OPENER

PITTSTON -- The visiting William Smith College women's ice hockey team opened up a 3-0 first period lead and never looked back as the Herons posted a 9-0 victory over King's College in the opening game of the United Collegiate Hockey Conference game Saturday at Revolution Ice.

With the win, William Smith remained in second place in the UCHC standings with a 14-5-4 record while King's slipped to 0-18-1 and 0-11-1 in the UCHC.

Kiley Fewster led the Herons with two goals while Krista Federow and MaryKate Martino both added one goal and one assist apiece.

The Herons outshot King's 47-8 and won 31 of 44 faceoffs.

Josee Aitken had five shots on goal for King's. Lady Monarch goalie Kiva Sierra Stoltz made 38 saves in the game in going the distance for King's. Heron keepers Maggie Salmon and Emily Spencer combined for eight stops.

The teams will play the second game of their series Sunday at 1:00 PM at Revolution Ice.
